As an undergraduate student Christian organization, the MESAHI Project plans to achieve its goals via three approaches:

1.    We plan on constructing a medical clinic in this area that would act as the main source of primary health care for the community. Since the nearest clinic is a five-hour bus ride away, most residents of the Tuikut village have no access to adequate health care; thus, this clinic can provide for more efficient, urgent, and beneficial medical needs of the locals. This clinic will be manned and staffed by local hired healthcare professionals but will need the support of sponsors for funding, reliable infrastructure, and prayer.

2.    We also plan on sending medical teams from America to Mt. Elgon during summer of 2010 to hold mobile clinics and to educate the community regarding public health sanitation, transmission of AIDS, and other pertinent medical issues.

3.    Along with the community’s physical needs, we plan to provide for their spiritual needs through evangelism. Undergraduate students from UCLA will not only receive invaluable international medical experience, but will also witness the Gospel of Jesus Christ to reach people of Kenya as we evangelize through serving them in a practical way.
